Southern California Supports Honda FCX Clarity Engine
May 29th, 2008 | by admin |Some of the biggest news in the automobile industry (especially in the green car news arena) is that the Honda FCX Clarity is about to be released to the roads. Unfortunately for most of the world, the Honda Clarity is only going to see limited release in Southern California. That’s because the Honda FCX Clarity engine is based on fuel cell technology which requires unique refueling that is only available in limited areas. It will only be after successful testing and increased use of this technology that the Honda FCX Clarity will be released to a broader market.
The Honda FCX Clarity Engine
The Honda FCX Clarity engine is based on fuel cell technology that is designed to reduce pollution and gas waste. That’s a good thing but it means that the Honda Clarity can’t just be refueled at the standard gas station. The Honda FCX Clarity engine requires unique refueling stations that are initially only going to be available to the Southern California market.
Where Honda Clarity Drivers Can Live
Because of the unique fueling and service needs of the Honda FCX Clarity, the Honda Clarity will only be available in a small geographic area upon its first release. New Honda Clarity drivers will have to live in Santa Monica, Irvine or Torrence; these are all in Southern California.
Why Limited Honda FCX Clarity Release Makes Sense
Although it’s disappointing to drivers outside of Southern California, it makes sense to release the Honda FCX Clarity in a limited area. New technology like that in the Honda FCX Clarity engine always needs to be tested and tweaked. Let them work out the kinks before they launch a full release of the car.
